Take back control ![]()
Anxiety can make you feel like you are constantly losing your mind. ![]()
You might have dreams and goals but anxiety lets thoughts of doubt creep in and it can sometimes feel like it’s so lid in your mind that it drowns out your positive thoughts, leaving you lacking in confidence and self belief. ![]()
It convinces you that you’re not good enough, that you’ll fail, that people will judge you. So you hesitate to follow those dreams or goals, meaning you start to procrastinate. ![]()
Even when there’s an opportunity right in front of you, you make an excuse because the anxiety made you second guessing yourself. ![]()
Then you start to get knots in your stomach, your heart starts racing then suddenly something that you had felt excited about now terrifies you. Then it’s “I’ll do it when I’m ready”. ![]()
When my mum was alive and she wasn’t sure about something she’d say “we’ll see”. ![]()
Anxiety can make you feel powerless, like you’re a passenger in your life rather than the driver. ![]()
There’s a saying we use in our house and it’s “who’s driving the bus”, this can apply to you if you have anxiety. You can take back control and you can have the final say, not the anxiety. ![]()
Being free from it means you can pursue your dreams and goals, knowing that you have the strength and resilience to overcome other obstacles along the way. ![]()
Who’s driving your bus, you or the anxiety?![]()

Weekly Affirmation ![]()
Positive affirmations are one way of helping to shift your mindset. ![]()
One of the reasons for using them is to help to rewire or retrain your mind to see things in a more positive light and to help you focus on the good. ![]()
We often spend so much time thinking about all the negative things that we miss out on seeing the positive. ![]()
When you use affirmations it can help to activate the brains reward centre which help increase your feelings of self worth or self belief. ![]()
One of the biggest beliefs is that the once anxiety starts it controls the rest of your day. ![]()
It doesn’t. ![]()
Calm isn’t something that just comes when life is quiet or organised, it can come at any time, even in the middle of the day, during a difficult conversation or when your mind is racing. ![]()
This week’s affirmation is a reminder of that. ![]()
“Calm is available to me throughout the day” ![]()
This is because you can pause and reconnect with your body at any time. It might be lighting a candle a taking a slow breath, unclenching your shoulders and letting them go loose or it might just be reminding yourself that this moment will pass. ![]()
You don’t have to wait until you’ve finished work or for the weekend or even for your next holiday to feel calm. ![]()
Practice accessing it in small moments through the day. ![]()
All those little moments add up and make a bigger difference than you might realise. ![]()
Does anyone else feel a sense of calm when they light a candle? ![]()
