Actions speak louder![]()
Anxiety isn’t just about the words we use sometimes it’s the language your body speaks that can give it away. ![]()
While everyone experiences anxiety differently there are some common body language signs that can show someone is anxious. ![]()
1️⃣. Fidgeting with things or maybe “shooting”, bouncing their leg. (This used to be my biggest sign, and I still do it if I’m in a very stressful situation. ![]()
2️⃣. Avoiding eye contact. They’re either looking away or looking down when they’re talking. ![]()
3️⃣. A tightened jaw or clenched teeth ![]()
4️⃣. Crossing their arms tightly as if they’re protecting themselves. ![]()
5️⃣. Rapid or shallow breathing. It can feel like they can’t catch a breath. ![]()
6️⃣. Pacing or constant restless movements. ![]()
7️⃣. Sweaty palms or just wiping their hands frequently. ![]()
8️⃣. Touching their face, their neck ir hair nervously. ![]()
9️⃣. Sitting or standing stiffly, it’s almost like they’re trying to hold themselves together. ![]()
1️⃣0️⃣. Biting or chewing their lips or the inside of their mouth. ![]()
If you can recognise these signs on someone it might help you to show more compassion, understanding or support to someone who may be struggling. ![]()
A kind word can make a lot of difference. ![]()
I can see many of the things I still do whenever I’m feeling worried about something in this list. Have you noticed any of them in yourself or others. ![]()
Remember it’s ok to not be ok. ![]()

You can’t fix what you can’t face. ![]()
Imagine the room below was a room in your house and every time you passed it you would feel anxious. Then you decide to close the door so you can’t see it, out of sight out of mind right? Nope, it’s still there. So you still feel anxious about it. ![]()
Each time you pass and think about what’s behind that door the anxiety becomes more and more. ![]()
A similar thing happened with me. My mum had a stroke whilst she was staying with us. Every time I walked past the door, which I had to do to get to my room, I could picture her there struggling, unable to speak and hardly able to move. After she died I closed the door and avoided the room. But I knew I couldn’t keep avoiding it forever, it’s a spare room we use for guests. I changed the decor in it but I could still see here there. ![]()
I had to get help to deal with the image and that’s when I discovered how powerful Havening was. ![]()
You have to open the door and asses what is wrong and plan to make the changes. For me it wasn’t just a case of changing the decor, it was changing how I thought about that room. ![]()
Avoiding the issue doesn’t work, facing it and dealing with it does. ![]()
