Next year, starting from February I will be running 2 breathwork sessions a month, the first and third Thursday. There will be different types of breathwork to experience including Breathpower a multi sensory experience. Feed back from this has been amazing so I have decided to hold these sessions every 2nd month instead of every 4th month. Therapy The idea of therapy is different for everyone. It doesn’t mean that you’re weak or useless, it means you’ve decided to get the help you need. You don’t have to be really struggling to get help either, some clients come as soon as they feel something is changing and they want to nip it in the bud. Some come because they want to learn tools and techniques to help them deal with situations in their life. Maybe you think because you have great friends you can turn to you don’t need therapy. But therapy isn’t about replacing your friends. You can have both. I don’t have a magic want, I am, however, here to help guide you in the right direction. I know the idea of therapy might conjure up images of talking for weeks on end and sobbing and reopening old wounds, but that's not how I work. You just need to know you want to feel differently. You can tell me as much or as little as you want and then we can get started on making those changes happen. You want to feel better and I want to help you get started on that as quickly as possible.Marina

All aboard There’s an old cliché of life is like a journey, and we’ll I guess it is true. Whether it’s the path to happy life, to a new job or promotion, we’re all on some sort of journey. Some of you might take the scenic route and stop off at different places, some of you might want to be full steam ahead and just go for what it is you want and nothing gets in your way. I think the scenic route is quite a good one to take, along the way there will be lots of things to see and do. Some of those things might not be worth seeing and you might wish you’d never stopped there, but I think there’s something to learn in all that you do. It might just be to never do that thing or never speak to that person again, but it’s still a lesson. If you imagine that your journey is done by train and you can get off when ever you feel the need, take your luggage with you and if you decide that you don’t need what’s in those cases you could just leave them there and then get back on the train free from all that stuff that was slowing you down. Or you might decide you’ve reached your destination and the baggage you had with you served a purpose until that point then when you get off you can leave it on the train and wave goodbye to those old ways of thinking and doing. Either way you have the choice of how you want your journey to proceed and what you want to take with you. If you’ve decided enough is enough but your struggling to let go of the baggage then I can help. When you come to see me you can leave it at my door and I’ll get rid of it for you. Marina

This weeks A-Z of how anxiety affects people P is for Panic AttacksLet’s talk about something that many people with anxiety experience but often feel ashamed or scared to share. Panic Attacks.What is a panic attack It is a sudden and intense surge of fear or discomfort that often feels overwhelming and that can strike without warning. It’s not “just nerves” or “feeling anxious”; it’s a full-body response that can leave you feeling like you’re losing control, having a heart attack, or even dying.During a panic attack, you might experience symptoms like:🆘 Rapid heart rate or chest pain🆘 Shortness of breath or choking sensations🆘 Sweating or shaking🆘 Dizziness or feeling faint🆘 A sense of unreality or feeling of detachmentIt’s important to remember that panic attacks, though they can be incredibly distressing, are not physically harmful. It’s your body’s “fight or flight” response kicking in and going into overdrive, even when there’s no immediate danger.Here are some strategies to help manage panic attacksIf you hold your index finger and middle finger together and squeeze until you get a pulse or tingling sensation and breath 5-6 breaths it will stop a panic attack. Ground Yourself in the Present: Focus on your surroundings using the “5-4-3-2-1” technique: name 5 things you see, 4 things you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, and 1 you can taste. This can help pull you out of the overwhelming sensations and bring you back to the present.Create a Calming Routine: Having a plan for when a panic attack hits can give you a sense of control. This might include having a soothing playlist, carrying an object that grounds you or practicing visualisation techniques like imagining a calm and safe place or carrying a pack of sour sweets. The sour sweets will help you bring you back into the present moment. Get Support: If panic attacks are happening often, reaching out to someone like me can be incredibly helpful. There are many effective tools, from breathwork and mindfulness techniques to having hypnotherapy, that can reduce their frequency and intensity. I also run breathwork groups than can help.
