How good is your camouflage?![]()
If someone has anxiety they can often be good at camouflaging their negative thoughts. It might be while at work or out with friends but the moment they get home it shows up and the negative thoughts just keep coming. ![]()
There’s lots of different ways that you can camouflage negative thoughts, such as ![]()
Suppressing emotions, managing how you appear to others so you look confident or “normal”, forcing eye contact when in social situations or even imitating other people’s reactions so that you blend in. ![]()
But all of that can be exhausting both physically and mentally and the more you do it the more you can lose your identity, not know your true self. ![]()
Finding the root of the negative thought and addressing it is a much better way of helping you. ![]()
You can schedule some worry time for yourself. Put aside 30 minutes or so a day to address all the worries that have come up that day. ![]()
Making sure you speak kindly to yourself. Your subconscious mind is always listening to you and it will believe whatever you tell it. ![]()
Ask yourself is the thought true, is it kind and is it helpful and what would you tell a friend in this situation. ![]()
One of the things I do when working with a client is work on the suppressed emotions using Silent Counselling, so if you are feeling stuck reach out and find out how I can help you or if you know anyone who feels this way then share this post with them. ![]()

Weekly Affirmation ![]()
Anxiety can often make us have a sense of urgency, that everything must be done immediately, or that you need to decide something instantly or solved all at once. ![]()
It might leave you feeling that slowing down is risky, like if you were to pause that something might go wrong. ![]()
But urgency and safety are two different things, they are not the same. ![]()
It makes me thing of when people are speeding in their cars, dodging in and out of the traffic overtaking everyone, chances are they are in a rush to get somewhere, but it doesn’t mean they’re being safe. If they left earlier to get to wherever they’re going and took their time and drove at a steady pace that would be safer. ![]()
Safety isn’t found in speed, it’s found in that moment of steadiness. ![]()
So when you have anxiety and slow your breathing down your body begins to settle. Taking one step at a time helps your mind become clearer. ![]()
So when you take a pause before you react you give yourself space to choose. ![]()
Rushing around keeps your nervous system on high alert but when you slow down your nervous system learns to stand down. ![]()
This week’s affirmation is ![]()
“I do not need to rush to be safe”![]()
Repeat it at least three times and say it daily. ![]()
The next time you feel pressure to hurry just pause and reminded yourself that you can move at a pace that supports you and leaves you feeling calm. ![]()
