What’s behind you should stay behind you. ![]()
When you’re driving every now and again you check your rear view mirrors, (at least I hope you do). It’s a great idea to check them now and again just to see what’s behind you, but your main focus is on what’s ahead off you. ![]()
This is the same for life. ![]()
You don’t want to constantly be checking and living your life through the rear view mirror. ![]()
Your unconscious mind is equipped with a rear view mirror, which continuously relives and recreates your past. You might mistakenly believe that who you were is who you are now. But you’re not. You are already a different person. You’ll have learnt lessons along the way that will have changed how you think and feel about situations. ![]()
When you look in that mirror you are focusing on the past and what you are trying to leave behind, but the more you do that the more you will continue to see it. What you focus on is what you get more off. It won’t get you where you want to be. ![]()
But when you only have a quick glimpse in the mirror and focus on the road ahead and where you are going, what you want to achieve then that’s what you will get. ![]()
Sometimes the road can be long, but you need to stick with it, it will take you where you need to be. You might have to stop a few times, take a break, but that’s ok, it’s might be that you’re taking the scenic route. Just jump back in as soon as you can. ![]()
To move forward stop living out your rear view mirror and start imagining a life of possibilities. Once you focus more on that, then you will begin to achieve it. Focus on the vision you have, of where you see yourself going, do it daily and you will begin to make it a reality. ![]()
However if you’re struggling with what you see in the rear view and feel you can’t take your eyes of it then get in touch. ![]()

Releasing What The Body Has Been Holding ![]()
In Silent Counselling there’s a movement that we do that can help bring your body & energy back towards balance. It helps when feeling stressed. ![]()
By gently holding the forehead and the back of the neck we create a feeling of grounding, bringing your awareness back to your body. ![]()
This technique is used with the breath. A simple way is to gently squeeze on the inhale and let go when you exhale. Do this 3 times. ![]()
The combination of the gentle touch, The breath and focused attention helps you settle and release tension from your body and mind. It also interrupts the fight-or-flight response and brings blood to the forebrain so you can think more clearly. ![]()
In Silent Counselling it’s used to prepare the body for deeper emotional work. ![]()
It’s important that you make sure the pressure is gentle. You’re simply allowing the body to release what it no longer needs to hold onto. ![]()
Give it a go next time you feel stressed and let me know how you get on. ![]()
