Yesterday I was asked what it is I do to help people with phobias. ![]()
When I said that I used hypnotherapy she stepped back and said "oh no I couldn't let someone take control". ![]()
Hypnotherapy isn't about us taking control, all that stuff you see done by stage hypnotists is because YOU want to do it, you want to take part. No one has control over you, it's a state where you feel completely relaxed and are guided in the right direction to help you over come your fears. ![]()
The only change you'll get is the one you want. ![]()
Have you ever experienced trance, that you're aware of?

Do You Feel Constantly On Edge, Even When Nothing Is Wrong? ![]()
I was having a conversation with a friend the other day and they said that when they sit down to relax they find their mind racing and feel like the should be doing “something”. ![]()
There isn’t anything for them to do. They’ve done their to do list. Nothing urgent is happening and everyone is safe. ![]()
But her body starts to feel tense and her mind keeps scanning for problems. She starts to feel guilty about sitting down and she can’t switch off. It leaves her feeling exhausted and finds it difficult to enjoy being in the present moment. ![]()
These are common signs of anxiety. ![]()
When someone has been under stress for a long time the nervous system can become stuck in a state of high alert. It’s almost like the mind and the body have forgotten how to recognise it’s safe. ![]()
Anxiety isn’t always about what’s happening around you. It’s about what your nervous system has learned to expect. ![]()
If you’ve experienced difficult life events, prolonged stress, or trauma, your mind may have become conditioned to stay on guard, even when there is no immediate threat.![]()
Remember you weren’t born anxious. ![]()
You have learned to protect yourself the best way you knew how. ![]()
And just as the mind has learned these patterns it can learn new ones. ![]()
Imagine how it would feel to enjoy a cuppa without your mind jumping ahead to tomorrow. To jump out of bed and allow your body to relax. To feel relaxed rather than overwhelmed when you take time out for yourself. ![]()
That level of calm is possible when your nervous system learns that it is safe again. ![]()
Do you ever find yourself feeling on edge, even when there’s nothing obvious to worry about?![]()
